The Collapse of the Old Eyewear System

Every industry has its builders.

And every industry has its gatekeepers.

For more than two decades, a class of intermediaries has quietly built a business around independent eyewear. They called themselves “consultants”, “experts”, “journalists”, “advisors”, “agents”, or “industry insiders”.

Different titles. Same model.

Control the information. Control the relationships. Control the visibility.

Charge for access.

The problem is that the internet changed the rules.

Today, a retailer can discover a brand directly. A brand can speak directly to its audience. Information travels instantly. Visibility is no longer owned by a handful of people operating behind closed doors.

And that is exactly why parts of the old system are beginning to crack.

The only people who seem uncomfortable with what Curated Optics is doing are not the entrepreneurs risking their capital, the retailers opening stores, or the brands investing years into building products.

It is the opportunist. Offering an illusion instead of real value. He appears in many forms.

All designed to capitalize on the financial hardship of brands and retailers while bearing none of the risk.

Brands are fighting for shelf space.

Independent agents are protecting territorial exclusivity.

Retailers are forced to navigate an increasingly fragmented and inefficient market.

The power to change the industry lies with brands. They should refuse to pay for editorial coverage and avoid paying agents excessive trade show commissions above 5%, avoid granting territorial exclusivity that limits growth.

When one distribution agency represents 10-20 brands, competition disappears.

Change begins when brands and opticians stop funding the old system.

Who We Are

We are a software company. We focus on young entrepreneurs because they are the fastest to embrace new technologies.

Curated Optics is not owned by any eyewear brand.

Media is just the first step. We’re building tools and products for independent opticians and eyewear brands.

Curated Optics, LLC is a legally registered company established through Stripe Atlas (our payment partner for the services we will be offering in the future), with its registered address at 131 Continental Drive, Suite 305, Newark, Delaware 19713, United States and File Number: 10651236.

Editorial Independence

Since launching Curated Optics, we have encouraged something remarkably simple: competition and direct relationships between brands and retailers.

Anonymous accounts. Pressure campaigns using false information and manipulative images. Attempts to contact us, business partners or brands to influence our editorial direction.

When a publication promotes open competition and receives this kind of reaction, the obvious question becomes:

Who benefits from keeping the old system alive?

Certainly not independent brands and opticians.

And certainly not consumers.

We do not sell press coverage. We do not publish sponsored narratives disguised as journalism.

Our Romanian offices have given us access to world-class software excellence, while our New York presence has connected us to global investment opportunities.

Building on these strengths, we deepened our partnerships by launching a branch in Seoul alongside our local partners, creating a strategic gateway to the Asian market.

That’s why our editorial team operates independently.

Equal Access and Fair Visibility

Several brands have told us they would like greater visibility within our publication.

We listened. And we answered the call of independent brands.

That is why, in the near future, we will introduce a premium advertising placement above our header, available through a transparent, market-based bidding system.

And yes, the banner will also be featured in our newsletters.

As with major digital advertising platforms, pricing will be determined by demand, based on algorithm.

No private deals.

No special treatment.

No hidden arrangements.

You will know exactly what you are paying for.

You will have access to real-time performance data.

Every brand will compete under the same rules.

Exactly as it should be.

And to be clear: advertising will never influence editorial coverage.

Not now. Not ever.

The Numbers Tell the Story

Today, Curated Optics is available in eight languages.

More than 100,000 unique readers visit our platform every month. After only 9 months since launch.

Our content generates over 450,000 monthly page views.

Our newsletter database has grown to over 7,500 subscribers, including more than 6,400 optical stores and opticians.

Our Instagram audience has surpassed one million views per quarter for three consecutive quarters.

The demand for independent information is growing.

The audience is growing.

The conversation is growing.

And the old system knows it.

In the near future, we will expand our editorial focus to reach end consumers, not just opticians.

Looking Forward

Every industry eventually faces a choice.

Protect outdated structures or embrace progress.

History has already shown how that story ends.

The future of independent eyewear will belong to the builders.

The entrepreneurs who invest.

The retailers who take risks.

The brands that innovate.

The creators who challenge convention.

Not the people standing between them.

The old eyewear system is not collapsing because of Curated Optics.

It is collapsing because the industry no longer needs permission to connect.

And once people discover they can build without gatekeepers, there is no going back.

This must be a free game that anyone can play.
