Duālis SS25 by Cutler and Gross: Espionage-Era Drama Woven into Frames

In July 2025, Cutler and Gross unveiled Duālis, their Spring/Summer eyewear line steeped in Cold War nostalgia and cinematic tension. Drawing inspiration from John le Carré’s world of hidden identities and shadowy intrigue, the collection channels 1970s London’s espionage undercurrents with architecturally bold silhouettes and moody gradient lenses.

Shot by Boo George, whose editorial work spans Hermès and Vogue, the campaign evokes a spellbinding narrative of subtlety and poise—each frame acting as both accessory and artifact.

Shadows & Secrecy: Conceptual Foundations

The Duālis SS25 collection is conceived as a homage to early 1970s London, a period defined by secrecy, identity, and the atmosphere of surveillance. Fiction and reality satisfyingly blur in this visual narrative, invoking le Carré’s George Smiley and the anguish of a world where every glance may conceal a truth. Duālis embraces that tension, making each frame a prop in a story that intrigues as much as it conceals

Design Details: Crafted to Conceal and Reveal

Duālis introduces eight optical styles and five sunglasses, all unified by a palette of drama and restraint. Oversized shapes deliberately obscure—concealing more than they reveal—while gradient lenses guide light into shadow, hinting at what’s kept unseen. Design flourishes include engraved core wires, weighted hinges, and 25K gold-plated metal detailing on limited-edition frames, elevating functionality into intrigue .

Two standout limited editions—the 1418 sunglass and optical models—come in black glossy acetate with rose gold could plating, offering both opulence and narrative gravitas.
